The alternator went out and took the battery with it. We replaced the alternator and the battery. Everything was hooked up, so my brother decides to start the boat (out of water). After 30 seconds, we try to shut it off, but it is unresponsive to they key or the throttle. I quickly removed the pos battery cable. When I go to connect the pos cable the boat wants to start up again. I disconnected alternator just to make sure it was not causing the problem and the same problem still occurs? Any ideas? Someone mentioned this battery should be connected neg terminal to Pos wire and vice versa. Any help would be greatly appreciated"

disconnect start wire (yellow/red) and try again. sounds like ignition switch bad.should be no voltage unless key switch at start.or you have a wire crossed somewhere.
