I was wondering if anyone know

I was wondering if anyone knows the best place to get a cylinder head for my 85 Mercruiser 3.0. I pulled the head yesterday and it is cracked.

My first question is why is it cracked? Severe overheading?

I can't remember off hand if this is iron or aluminum. Aluminum can be fixed by your local machine shop. Methinks it is iron though.
 
Yup your right it is iron. no

Yup your right it is iron. no aluminum. Yes the cooling system was not operating properly. I have corrected that and the bottom end has been rebuilt but need a head.
