Steam in Exhaust

"I run twin 454 Mercruisers in my 1992 Sea Ray. Recently I took a long run and notice large amounts of steam coming from the starboard exhaust, the temperature was at 180. Normally I run at 160. As I was trouble shooting I found the impellor to be bad. I have replaced and the engine has gone back to it's normal running temperature (it is actually a little higher than 160 , I believe to be due to the 85+ degree water temp of the Chesapeake bay) but I still have a small amount of steam coming from the exhaust. Any suggestions why the engine would steam? Is it normal for an engine to do this?"

"At the time it shot up to 180 it was hot, high 90's to 100. Although today the high temp is in the 80's and the water temp mid 80's and the engines are running just above 160 if not 160 with small amounts of steam."
