"I run twin 454 Mercruisers in my 1992 Sea Ray. Recently I took a long run and notice large amounts of steam coming from the starboard exhaust, the temperature was at 180. Normally I run at 160. As I was trouble shooting I found the impellor to be bad. I have replaced and the engine has gone back to it's normal running temperature (it is actually a little higher than 160 , I believe to be due to the 85+ degree water temp of the Chesapeake bay) but I still have a small amount of steam coming from the exhaust. Any suggestions why the engine would steam? Is it normal for an engine to do this?"
