"I've got a 99 Searay 210B

"I've got a 99 Searay 210BR, 5.0 MPI Merc,.After it's been running awhile, the engine will intermittently cough and surge between 4000 and 5000 rpm. Changed fuel, filters and separators. No joy. Problem seems to abate with cover off. Tune up no help. Dealer cannot help. Any ideas?"
 
"Had the EXACT same problem.

"Had the EXACT same problem. Pull your fuel pump and take it apart and inspect the diaphragm (if its the mechanical kind). The rubber diaphragm gets saturated and starts to leak gas through it when it warms up. This drops your fuel pressure. I replaced a lot of stuff to finally figure it out.

O, if ur pump is bad, the rubber will look like it is dry rotted."
