"It seems like there is a noise coming from the engine, and upon inspection the impeller housing is sort of loose or wobbly. No water leaks or cooling problems, but I'm wondering how loose or tight that housing should be that is on the front of the crank pulley. AQ225E (chevy 305) Thanks!!!

Lake Powell kicks a$$ by the way. If you've never been there...GO!!!"

"It is somewhat loose, but it should be a rubber bushing between the pump and the rod bracket stopping it from turning with the engine."

"Yeah, it definitely does not do that!!! That would be a scary situation wouldn't it???"

"If the rubber is missing, and the washer on the screw has a smaller OD than the hole in the support, it may spin with the engine (as far as the hoses allows). Perhaps the scew is just out or broke?"

Would this cause a cooling issue or leak? I have neither. Just wondering why it seems wobbly and makes noise. It does seem like it travels as far as the hose allows.

"If the proper suports is not there the bearings may get a beating. Perhaps You should take it down and check. Please do not sink Your boat, the pump is below wateline!"
