Can some one tell me what is t

Can some one tell me what is the best way to start/tune my boat in my drive way? I have heard refences to barrels/buckets with water hoses in them to feed the stern drive. I just changed the points and need to check the timing but I do not want to haul it to the lake to perform a tune up. Could some one provide some instructions on a good technique?
