OMC ENGINE ALIGNMENT ISSUE

"We adjusted the motor mounts

"We adjusted the motor mounts until we could slide the alignment tool in very easly. When we lock down the top nuts on the mount the tool was harder to slide in. So we raised the bottom nuts on the mount up alittle and then the same thing. We repeated the process many times. No matter what we do as long as we leave the top nut loose and stay within a few turns the tool slides in not using any force, as soon as we lock down the top mount nuts......the same thing. Any ideas?"

We tried that idea. We even ra

We tried that idea. We even raise the bottom one about 1/2 then 1/4 then 3/4 to one full turn. Then we did the same with the top nut. It acts as if the right mount pulls if off center. It only acts this way with the right side. Thanks

"You need both a flat washer A

"You need both a flat washer AND lockwasher.Tightening the nut straight on the engine mount will make the engine 'twist'. Furtermore check that the mount stud is not bent, but that the mount stud is properly centered in the engine mount hole and the engine wheight is even on both mounts."
