"I changed the water pump on my Johnson and noticed the new pump had 5 blades instead of 3, like my old one...Was there a problem with the 3 blade pumps ???"

Ward if I ain't mistaken they changed the water pump from the three to a 5 blade because it was bringing in air with the water and causeing over heat problems. You might want to check with your local johnnie rude dealer on the other up grades they had for that H/P and year. Temp sender and the relocating the pee tube outlet on the head.

It is a 70hp...It had a 3 blade and I was getting overheated at high rpm but at lower rpm it was fine...The new pump has 6 blades. I stand corrected too.
