External resistor for coil location

"I have a 1975 22' Sea Ray, the coil overheated and and I need to replace the external resister and coil too, which I have new. I don't know where the resistor mounts. Any one know?"

Do you know if it uses a ballast resistor? Might be that you had the wrong coil. Some coils do not need outside ballast resistance.

If it is a mercruiser it won't have one. The system uses a resister wire.
