"Hello All,
I have a 125AQ.

"Hello All,
I have a 125AQ. I have had a problem with the coil overheating. A few months ago I replaced the coil with an automotive ACCELL coil. Eeverything was fine until a couple of days ago it overheated again while at idle and tied up to the dock. It got hot again and I couldn't restate the engine. After it cooled down it restarted. I read in the Seloc manual that if the "primary resistor" had more than 1.4 ohms it had to be replaced. The problem is I can't find the primary resistor. Is there a special coil for a primary resitor. Thank You."

"The original coil isa 12 Volt

"The original coil isa 12 Volt coil, no external resistor. If You have replaced it with a 9 volt coil, that one require an external resistor. However You should not just add a resitor, or You may not be able to start the engine! 9 Volt coils uses a power by pass from a seperate connector on the starter to give crancking voltage to the coil, bypassing the resistor. Volvo starter does not have this possibility!"
