"I've purchased a used Sea

"I've purchased a used Sea Sprite 1900 ES open bow with an Alpha One Merc Cruiser 4.3L. I am told by the marina that the hull is a stringray hull. I have a 14.25/21 ss prop on it. We seem to be having some trouble getting skiers out of the water. Wide open I've been able to get 48 mph out of it, but i'm wondering if I need a different prop for better ski and wakeboard towing. Any help would be greatly appreciated."

"I will normally carry 2 props, one for go fast and the other for skiing. I suggest a 17 or 19 pitch for ski. Test them to see wich is best. Watch your rpm's with them or you could overrev. 4600 is max with about 38-4000 cruise."
 
That's way too much prop.

That's way too much prop.
There seems to be a misconception out there that in lieu of horsepower one can substitue a bigger prop... it just don't work that way!
