"I have an AQ120B on a 17'

"I have an AQ120B on a 17' Campion boat. Current prop 15X13. WOT is 4500, recomended is 4400-4800. What do you think of going to a 14" prop. What are advantages of a smaller prop? I know changing the pitch by 1" changes the rpm's about 200. I'd like to increase rpm to 4700 rpm what pitch 14" prop should I get?"

"David, in my previous 17'

"David, in my previous 17' Double Eagle with an AQ140A I achieved 5050 RPM with a 14 x 15 uncupped propeller. I suggest you should try a 14 x 15 cupped prop. I have a 14 x 16 cupped that you are welcome to try, but it may be a bit too much pitch for your boat. Alternatively, you can drop in at RevProp in Stewart Avenue and have a chat with Gary, he will probably lend you some props you can try.

The advantages of a 15" diameter prop in your size of boat is higher thrust, which would allow the boat to plane at lower speed than a 14". However, most 17' boats with Volvo legs have the 14" diameter props."
