I'm considering buying a 2001 Glastron SX-195 with a volvo penta 5.0 liter stern drive. It has about 250 hours on it, but has had regular maintenance. Last year it sucked a valve, but was repaired and the owner said it runs well now.
Questions:
1) Is 250 hours on this rig considered to be OK or should I be aware of expensive maintenance or parts that start to go around this hobbs meter mark?
2) The Volvo Penta 5.0 liter is a Ford 302, correct? I've had only Mercruisers in the past (and currently have a 4.3L Merc) and don't know a lot about the reliability of the 302. Is it generally thought of as being a robust motor?
I've heard good things about the Volvo Penta drives, but have no first hand experience with them and wanted to ask those who did.
