DF 70 Suzuki will not get over 4200 RPM

"I have a 2002 70 HP 4 stroke,

"I have a 2002 70 HP 4 stroke, I can not seem to get it over 4200 RPM. 15 Degree 3 blade prop. 17'
Angler CC aprox 1200 lbs. I think that I should be getting at least 5200. New wiring harness, gas is good, new plugs. Boat seems to plow a bit. wish I could trim it down a little more. Any suggestions would be appreciated"

Your prop pitch is too high. I had the same problem with the 15 pitch prop. I bought the 13.75 x 13 pitch and now I get 5000 rpm which is still shy of the recommended ~5400 - 5600 rpm. Maybe a 14 x 11 prop would be best."
