"Ive got a Bayliner 1850, circa 1992 with a 3ltr Mercruiser Alpha 1 sterndrive. I recently started to have problems shifting into forward drive. After making the shift forward it started to take longer and longer to engage, and now it sometimes wont engage at all. I've changed the gear fluid in the leg gearbox, adjusted the shift cables but still have the problem. Sometimes I can get it to engage when I shift forward and apply some throttle, but then it is a harsh crunch which can't be good for the box."
