"Can I put the larger 22-hole
"Can I put the larger 22-hole boot on an older early 70's intermediate housing without a leak? Will it stretch down?
My transom was set up for an 800 series outdrive with the 22-hole transom seal boot 800 series electric shift outdrive.
I want to drop in an engine early 70's and intermediate housing that had the smaller 16-hole boot.
As I recall there are two sizes of OMC stringer transom seals. The smaller 16-hole boot was for stringer drives 1977 and earlier and the 24-hole boot is for 400/800 series stringer drives between 78-86. I measured the circumfrence and the older intermediate is a couple inches smaller around (circumfrence).
So, will the bigger 22-hole boot fir on the older intermediate or do I need to find another intermediate from a 400/800?"
