Merc 43 ignition fuse continues to blow

I have a sea ray 185 (2001

I have a sea ray 185 (2001) with a 4.3 merc I/O. I was running it at high speeds for several minutes when it sputtered and then 30-40 seconds later it stopped running. I had blown a ignition fuse. I waited about 30 minutes and it ran fine for 5 minutes at about 2500 rpm. It then did the same thing and blew another fuse. Any suggestions?

"Thanks for the help, It turns out that the wire to the alternator melted where it was touching the manifold, thus shorting out the system. However, it still unfortunately doesn't solve why it will sputter at wot."
