"I'm not sure how to ask this & I don't wish to offend anybody in any way but if I buy a motor from somebody through this website, is there any way I can check their reputation as a seller prior to buying or should I just take a chance? It seems like it would be too easy to say ok, here's my money. Please send me the motor. Any ideas."

You can also ask the seller for references.

You could also agree with the seller to put the money in escrow until the motor is received.

Paypal might even have an escrow arrangement."
