I was out on the lake last wee
I was out on the lake last weekend ready to ski. My friend was going to pull me and as he went into gear we all heard what sounded like the gears engaging under load. The motor stalled and than he started it and went to pull me out but the boat would only go 2 knots MAX as the engine would continue to build RPMs as it was throttled up. Feels like its slipping. I adjusted the gear linkage thining it wasn't holding the gears in place but that didnt work. I removed the Upper Gear Housing and shift Mech. Looked inside at both gears and sliding sleeve which looked good. I dont want to disassemble the gear box because of the slimming that is envolve. Help! do you think the problem is located in the Gear Box or lower unit? I cant see where a pin may have sheared in the manual. I can hold it in gear and try to turn the prop in both rev and farward and it holds. Have any tips? Thanks Eric
