"I searched and searched this issue, not really coming up with more than a bunch of VRO stuff.
I just have a couple questions about it. Does anyone know if there are kits ready made for this? If not, what is involved besides getting the electric pump, some wiring and a pressure regulator? Are there any disadvantages to using electric on an older setup?
I have an '87 merc 4.3 with 2 bbl carb. Boat had been sitting, lots of corrosion, etc so the fuel pump is going to be replaced anyway, along with exhaust manifolds, impeller, and a host of other stuff.
I've actually never owned anything with a carburetor (or mechanical fuel pump for that matter), so going to more electric stuff seems natural to me.
