Perkins 4108 reputation and parts availability

I am looking at an early 1970

I am looking at an early 1970s sloop with a Perkins 4108 auxiliary. The engine is fresh-water cooled via heat exchanger. I have neither seen nor inspected the engine. What is the general reputation of this engine? What is the present availability of parts in the US and abroad? Thanks for the assist.

" If the engine is also early 1970s it is not a 4-108. The 4-108 was not made till 1978. You may have a 4-107. the engines are about the same, most parts interchange. the 4-107 was 40 hp @ 3000 rpm and the 4-108, 50 hp @4000 rpm Both are still very good engines and parts are availalbe. "
