" iam thinking of buying a clymer outboard repair manual to help me maintain and repair a mariner engine. have you an opinion on these, do they go into enough detail to help amatuers. or can you suggest a better one.

I have purchased 2 different

I have purchased 2 different Clymer manuals for 2 different engines I had and they were pretty self explanatory.But I purchased a SELOC manual for my Chrysler and I prefer it over Clymer personally.

" I think they are both a waste of money. Get the actual service manual for the motor. You can get them from the dealership or Ebay. I got an actual service manual for my 4.3 Ltr Mercruiser for $9.99 and 1969 Johnson 115Hp for $3.99 on Ebay.

These service manuals have specifics for my motor, not generalities for multiple years and horsepowers.

Just my opinion
