"My 1985 140 hp Johnson with VRO runs great most }}of the time, but I never know when it might stall completely or lose speed and chug at maybe 200 rpm as if plugs only fire every 20 revolutions or so. Sometimes on first starting, the same chugging goes on for 10 to 20 seconds and then it either stalls or revs up to the expected speed. A new rectifier/regulator and a new power pack haven't helped. Any thoughts on a possible cause/cure or troubleshooting techniques to determine the cause will be appreciated. Thanks!"
