My engine trys to run on somet

My engine trys to run on sometimes after the key is cut off. What needs to be adjusted to stop this?

Higher grade fuel?
 
I just bought a 2006 Bayliner

I just bought a 2006 Bayliner 175 with a MerCruiser 3.0L. I've had it two weeks and I'm having the same problem with the engine still running after the ignition is swicthed off. How do you check/adjust the timing?

"it wasn't the timing. I seafoamed the hell outta the engine, ran high octane gas and it fixed the problem. If you can't fix it after that, let it idle for 30 secs after running it hard and it shouldn't run-on."

it is a liquid product you can buy in a can at autozone. Pour it into the carb and it smokes and cleans out the engine.
