"What would be needed to do this swap? Complete 1994 5.7 alpha 1 gen II 4 barrel to a 2006 5.7 Vortec long block. Found a vortec long block that looks like a good deal, it would need intake, carb, circulator pump and probably other things. Electric fuel pump? Can I unbolt the rear engine mount from the alpha motor and reuse it on the vortec? If I could use my old carb I would have it rebuilt 1st. Will my engine coupler bolt up to the vortec flywheel? Will my distributor work on this motor? Can I just remove my engine wiring harness and hook everything up to the vortec? My 1994 is rated 235hp and probably down from there being it's so old. The vortec should be around 300hp. Think I will gain 5mph at cruise? Cruise is 24mph now burning 12 gph. The newer version of my boat with 300hp gets 3.5mpg."
