"I just installed a pair of rebuilt TAMD41B engines in my 28 ft Topaz.

I am having a problem with both battery alarms. The alarms sound within a few seconds of starting the engines. I silence the buzzer but the light on the dash stays on and blinks.

The batteries are West Marine 4D AGM. They were new last spring. They sat on a couple of 4 x 4s in my garage for 4 months while I repowered. The battery charger is a Xantrex True Charge 20, set for AGM batteries.

The volt meters indicates the alternators are charging the batteries (or trying to) while the engines are running. Both read 14.3 volts. I bought new wiring harnesses and instrument panels for the engines.

Are Volvo alternators compatible with AGM batteries? Do you guys have anything I should check to determine why the alarms are sounding and the lights remain on? Maybe the ground at the alternator?

Thank you,

Bill"

I think youll find that two small wires on the back of one (or both) of your alternators are on the wrong poles... I remember seeing that problem more than once..
