Timing isn't adjusted for

Timing isn't adjusted for altitude.
But all engine specs generally assume sea level atmospheric pressure.

"Internal cumbustion engines all work on the same principle. (Compression, Ignition, Fuel).

If your engine(WHAT YEAR? Carb or EFI)does not start well then you need to start somewhere to determine what is wrong. Compression is first. All cyclinders should be within 10% of each other (all) ~150psi - 190psi this is not the differences but the possible low to high readings depending on engine wear.

Next
If compression is good check for spark at each cyclinder with a good spark checking device.

If you got spark,
Then fuel is your issue, This could be the fuel itself or a carb, efi, related issue.

We need more info to give you more info......"
