"Takes too long to shift into

"Takes too long to shift into reverse, this causes the engine to die. If there isn't any pressure, it makes it into gear, but if there is pressure like loading the boat or even barely going forward when you go into reverse the engine dies. I heard it's a matter of adjusting the throttle cables. Is there a n easy do it yourself way of adjusting this?"

"How old is your lower shift cable?
Disconnect cable from shift interupter mounted to starboard riser be carefull not to turn brass barral but you should be able to pull and push it by hand, If not than replace cable."
