I was wondering if the sterndrive from a mercruiser 120 is compatible with a mercruiser 165???

"I know that the 'gearing' in the outdrive is different for 4-cyl (120-hp) vs 6-cyl (165-hp) and so forth. If you get the wrong gearing, either you engine or the outdrive is going to be hurting.

You will hear more technical reasoning for not doing this by the senior members of this forum!"
