"If you have a multi-meter, you can test all of the terminals at the relay. Pin 85 and 86 are the relay's coil terminals. The trigger lead from the ECM (negative output) will go to one of them and 12Vdc will go to the other. Pin 30 is 12Vdc input and pin 87 is the output to the pump. The wire going to pin 30 will have a fuse on it.

You can substitute a Bosch or Potter & Brumfeld style relay for the OEM fuel pump relay, if needed. The correct one has voltage spike suppression built in."
 
2003 5.0 mpi relay for fuel pu

2003 5.0 mpi relay for fuel pump pin #85 coil for relay not energised when key turned on. Is there something in line ahead of this that might keep from coming on?
