To start when cold I need to keep the butterfly open with a screw driver . Should this be automatic choke . Never really had to do before ? Any sugesstions on the issue

Loosen the screws on the choke

Loosen the screws on the choke and turn the assy. until it opens the choke plate 1/8"; tighten screws and spray a little WD-40 on the ends of the choke shaft.

"What exactly is the problem?

"What exactly is the problem? On a cold engine, the choke should fully close. Upon start up the choke should partially open within a few seconds. As the engine warms up the choke will SLOWLY open to full open position.
Are you saying it won't start unless the choke is held open?
OR
The choke doesn't open after start?

Anyhow, like the guys say alittle wd40 and adjustment might be in order
Chris"
