How to remove silicone and adhesives from gel coat

This boat we bought had a keel

This boat we bought had a keel guard and it was loose so I removed it and have to repair a portion of the keel and then gel coat so I need it clean
 
You can get adhesive removers

You can get adhesive removers at an automotive paint store that will do the job. Acetone works quite well too but will remove paint if it comes in contact.
