i Was just wondering i have a

i Was just wondering i have a 1978 with problems i found a good running 1984 omc 3.8 if i switched the engine and lower unit would the boot hole be the same and is it a hard task

"boot hole is the same. Easy swap - no physical differences externally. In fact the only difference is a few parts for shifting like the internals of the lower unit and the shift converter and cable. However, there was no 3.8 in 1978."
