"i am replacing my engine conn

"i am replacing my engine connection wiring harness in my 1987 Sea Ray Sundancer 340. I have purchased a used harness that has the same pin confirguration. but the wire colors are different. the old harness has red,purple,lt.blue,pink,tan,yellow,gray,black and orange that y'd from the red. the new harness has red,green,orange,purple w/white stripe,brown,red w/white stripe,black and white. could anyone help me decode this mess or give me insight on where i can?thankyou,Jim"

it had mercruiser 454's in

it had mercruiser 454's in it and I am switching to marine power 454's. not sure whose plug but it is the male end that is connected to the boat

There's a thread titled "Ayuh, the backdoor is again Open" or something like that...
In it,...
You can find a path to the Mercruiser Factory Manual for the motor you took out,...
That'll show you how the boat-side is wired...

For the New motor,... I'd contact the supplier..."
 
The harnesses will interchange

The harnesses will interchange but you have to figure out what crayon box they got the colors out of.
