I live in North Carolina and I'm having a hard time finding a engine or rebuildable block for less than $2000.00. My block is cracked due to previous owner not draining block for winter and did not tell me. Does anyone have any info where I can find a engine alittle cheaper. My motor is a 1989 3.0 with 2 pc. oil seal. Thanks
 
ebay maybe - I sold a 3.0 bare

ebay maybe - I sold a 3.0 bare block w/2pc rear seal on eBay last year for $140- it was crack free and I bore gauged everything - it was in good shape. I guess there's a risk with eBay though - you could get junk and pay dear to ship it.
Don't forget to include Mercruiser and Volvo Penta in your search criteria - they both used the GM 3.0 block pre 1 pc seal.

You have a stringer drive? If so you are correct to look for earlier block - there's no coupler for the newer engines for the stringers
 
I paid 400 for the whole boat

I paid 400 for the whole boat and trailer. off ebay.had a good motor but a bad outdrive and floor.

Was a merc you can do the same. 3.0 is 3.0 mer omc makes no difference.
