"Today I bought an old Elgin outboard, but there is no ID tag on it. I was hoping someone would recognise it and be able to tell me what I have. It is 2 Cylinder, liquid cooled, and has a forward/neutral clutch. It has a built in tank, plus a fitting on the front for an external tank. It has the number 23010 on the side of the engine. It used to be the pale blue/green, but someone has painted it. I realize it is a West Bend made for Sears, but was hoping for an exact year/model/HP rating.
Any help would be appreciated.

"I found my answer, thanks to some kind folks at the Antique Outboard Motor site who recognized it.
It is either a 1957 or 1958 7.5 HP.
Model number would be 571-58781 or 571-58782
Just in case anyone wanted to know..."
