"Can someone tell me if my 4.3

"Can someone tell me if my 4.3 OMC is a Stringer or Cobra. The motor is a 1985 and the model number is 432STMRCOM & serial is J842057. FYI, the boat is a 1986 Marlin.

"The "COM" part of the

"The "COM" part of the model # says it's a 1985 for sure. 85 was the last year of Stringers and 86 was the firsst year for Cobra's. However the quickest way to tell between a Stringer and Cobra is looking at the transom from the outside of the boat. The Stringer will have a big black rubber boot seal all the way around it. The Cobra does not but has 2 hydraulic trim rams, one on each side similar to a Mercruiser."
