View Full Version : HELP Trim goes down but not up

"1990 bayliner capri, 150 hp force out board
i was working on it at home and put the motor trim all the way down when i went to put it back up it just makes a click noise every time i push the trim up button, please help me it is stuck down and i cant take it out or to a repair place because it is all the way down. please some one let me know whats the problem and how to fix it? thank you"

sounds like a power trim relay issue to me id check all your grounds and relays

"check the relays, switch the wires around. Some people have no luck changing only one relay, so buy two if thats the problem."

"Watch out too, if you drove it down to hard, sometimes you can bend the rod or it may be in a bind. Try pulling up on the motor while giving it a command up. If you need to take it apart loosen the steering rod nut and remove the 2 lower bolts - you can remove one of the 2 side plates that mounts the motor on the back and pull it out through the side."

change the relays around so the working relay is in the up position if it goes up replace the bad relay.both relays must be in place for the good one to work
