"Hi All, I have a 1987 40hp 3 cylinder that sometimes bogs down from time to time. It seems to do it more often when the engine is under a load. I have had new plugs put in, carbs cleaned and reset, cleaned out the fuel filter - which had some gritty bits in it, had a service etc. this weekend we where on the sea and it bogged down again, took each spark lead off and all but the number 3 cylinder was sparking, could this be the reason for it loosing power. Its wierd cause we fideled with the wiring on the ignition coil and then it worked again.Earlier in the day it ran rough and green stuff came out of the exchaust which i think is unburnt oil from the number 3 cylinder?
when it runs it runs well but this power loss makes me nervious out at sea as here in south africa the sea can get nasty very quickly."
