I bought a used 8hp 2 cycle that starts with one pull and idles perfectly but flutters when accelerating and at wot. With the silencer removed from the carburator it runs much better reaching a smooth top speed but still fluttering a little with any change of the throttle. Since the extra air seems to help I thought maybe it's getting too much fuel. Ive heard of 15 hp Yamahas acting this way when a fuel jet in the carburator "wears". You guys have any thoughts on this?
