"The unit is for a 1979 Johnson 140HP V4 Seahorse. I have a leak between the end cap and trim cylinder sleeve of the starboard trim cylinder. I'm going to order a new o-ring and back up o-ring as well as trim rod o-ring and wipers as the wiper looks like theres bits missing.

I take it I need to drain the oil out of the tilt trim unit to do this. If so where is the oil drain, and is there a procedure to do this.
The Seloc manual only has how to fill it.

Talking of oil I'm assuming this leak is letting air in during tilt trim operation, as the oil in the reservoir was full of bubbles (frothy ??) after operating the tilt unit 5 times over its full range in succession to bleed air out of the system !

I understand Dexron III standard oil is what I would refil it with."

There is no drain and there is

There is no drain and there is no need to drain it. You will lose some fluid during disassembly but the whold system will not drain down. After completing the repair you must refill the system and purge the air out. Your manual should direct you on how to do this.

Good luck
