Starting an OMC outdrive on a garden hose

I have never owned an OMC and

I have never owned an OMC and I need to run it on a garden hose. It is a 1969 SS-235 slickcraft with a 305 chevy engine. Can some one help me please.

"tee this into the supply hose from the drive going to the t-stat hsg. Allows you to plug in your garden hose. There's a fancy OMC adapter, but this is $4 and does the exact same:

"Hy Stat: Will this wet the lower unit impeller enough to prevent it from self destructing? I am in the process of rebuilding my '69 225, 155hp and was wondering about the start up. Can I run this setup without the out drive installed? Sorry to hi-jack, but It sorta follows the same question. Thanks in advance . . ."

"yes it will flow back and flo

"yes it will flow back and flood the impeller. But as with any i/o, do not exceed 1500 rpm or so when running on a hose."
