"I have a gray marine 100hp six cylinder that has water in all six cylinders. Most of the water is in 5 and 6 but there is evidence of rust clear up to 1 and 2. There is no evidence of a leak in the head gasket. I had the exhaust manifold pressure tested, and it showed no problems. I took off the valve cover and examined the block from that perspective, and saw no holes or cracks.
I discovered this problem, because the engine was having a misfire on five and six, but it was running. I ran a compression test, and water came squirting out. Compression was approximately 125 on all cylinders.
There was an exhaust leak just below the elbow where the water tube empties into the exhaust. Is it possible that the leak caused a backflow from the tube to the intake ports, or should I be looking somewhere else?"
