1996 30 alpha one plug wires config on cap

I replaced the cap and plugs b

I replaced the cap and plugs but forgot how the wires go back on the distr. cap.

Could anyone help?

Are there small numbers on the

Are there small numbers on the old and new caps 1 2 3 4? Line the old cap w/the new and mark the numbers. Cylinder numbers are 1 2 3 4 front to back on the engine.

neither option worked. Does an

neither option worked. Does anyone have a mercruiser 3.0 alpha lx that could look at the distribuor cap and let me know the configuration?

"firing order from the distributor is 1-3-4-2, your piston order on the block will be 1-2-3-4 with 1 in the bow side and 4 in the transom side.

In the pic. #1 on the dist. is next to the block. Clockwise from there is #3, #4, #2."

Follow Guy's instructions after you determine which post is No.1 To do this take No.1. plug out turn the engine over until pressure becomes evident, (I use my finger over the hole), line up the timing points on the crankshaft pulley. Where the rotor is pointing with the metal end is the No.1 post.
