"DON'T ASK-

SOMEONE lost or borrowed my 302 Interceptor dipstick... So can I use an auto one?
Mine did not have a "0" degree & "5" degree mark on it.
OR
should I change the oil and mark a new DS with 5 qts. in it?
IS 5 QUARTS THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF OIL W/ 5 degree inclined block?

Well, I suppose a 302 PM

Well, I suppose a 302 PMC would be correct.
However access in this rural area make for a slow solution.
AND my question of capacity on a direct drive block makes me wonder- whether I had an uncorrected automotive dipstk. all along.
SO...the questions remain-

"Working on 1987 PCM chevy 302

"Working on 1987 PCM chevy 302 engines. Replaced all salt water hoses from sea valve to redgear cooler up to the water pump to heat exchanger and ended up to exhaust manifolds on both engines. The problem is when I started them the water pumps failed. The sea valves were both opened but has no suction. I opened both water pumps and saw that the impelers failed. My question is this, do I need to prime the suction hoses for the pumps to create the required suction? If so how do I do that? I can fill the lines with sea water but the water pump is another story. I appreciate any input on this matter."
