"Ok, now that I've pulled the motor and dissasembled, I notice on the left side (as you face the front of the engine) of the intake manifold there is a small plate with two holes in it. What is it, what are they for? They are less than 1/8" and about 1" apart and seem flared. Located beside the carb mount and would be mostly hidded when the carb is on."

yeah i think so too. Normally a pipe there that delivers hot air to the choke to take the choke off once engine warms up.

"Yes, that's it, just seemed odd to have them there for no reason.

Any preferences between reman engines vs new? Seems like some good deals out there both ways. Just don't have the time to rebuild one myself right now. Balance shaft vs. non balance shaft models. I want this to be as painless as possible. So the fit of exhaust and accessories is important. I know, funny huh.

Thanks again guys!"

it's not for "no reaso

it's not for "no reason" - the pipe should be there to activate the choke.

When the intakes are made they

When the intakes are made they don't know if it will have electric or heat tube choke.
