New stroker installed over Che

New stroker installed over Chevy 350 on '85 Galaxy Day Cruiser seems to run at 196F.

Temp is on 9 out of 11 and 11 is marked 240...am I screwed?

My buddy says it's running hot because I haven't changed pitch of prop yet.

A neighbor says his boat runs at 170F.

I've read in various places that normal operating temp is 90c or 190-220F...but am I going to hose my engine at this temp? Marine engines should run far cooler due to non-recirculating cooling right?

Also...my gauges are possibly bad (very old) as fuel gauge sticks often...I think I need new gauges as well.

I may need to install manual water gauge to verify console gauge...but water temp sensor is very blocked by the alternator and length of bracket. Is there a different way I can do manual temp test without getting or fabricating new alternator bracket?

thanks in advance...
