"For those of you follwing my earlier thread about my '93 8hp that wouldn't start, I thought I'd share what I finally found out from taking it to the repair shop. It turns out that the powerhead is shot - the pistons are apparently seized and that's why it's so hard to pull. They said it's not worth fixing and that my only real options are finding a suitable powerhead. I'm not sure how this happened - they asked if the motor had been submerged - no it hadn't.
Any ideas how this couldv'e happened?
They also said I could try soaking the pistons in PB Blaster or Marvel Myster Oil.
Is it worth taking it to a machine shop to have the cylinders bored out and installing larger pistons? Or am I the pround owner of a large paperweight?"
