"I finally got a rebuilt 1990
"I finally got a rebuilt 1990 4.3L OMC in the boat and something is different with the elcetrical. I used a few of the parts from the oldengine set up including my Prestolite Breakerless Ignition with eh Shift Module kit. When I installed that kit a few years back the instructions wer eto cut a few wires. One of those was a 12V wire that when from the alternator to the coil (Purple/red) See Link http://www.selocmarine.com/content/manuals/3404/pdf/340410w151.pdf. It all worked great untill I put the new engine in. The new engine would not work unless I put that wire back on the coil. ??? Where was the coil getting voltage before when that wire was cut. There is another wire coming off starter (purple/ black) was that 12 V in the "run" position. There are 3 terminals on the starter. What do they do in "start" and "Run""
