"I am replacing my starter and

"I am replacing my starter and was wasn't sure why theere are 3 power leeds coming to the starter? If anyone knows why this is, I would really appreciate the input."

"The large red One is from the battery.
The orange One goes to the altenater.
the third smaller red one goes to a circut braker and to the the exicte circut on the altenator

Actually there is three that a

Actually there is three that appear like they were on the battery post( one 2 gauge wire and two 4 gauge wires) as well as the other two wires on the other posts. Reason I do not know for sure is that she took on some salt water and corroded the connections. Although judging by the length of the extra wires they do look as if they were connected on the starter with the battery feed. Any ideas?

One TEN guage wire from the + side of the battery goes to the trim pump.

You said going to starter not comming from battery.

On a normal install withOUT a battery switch there should only be 2 wires going to the battery +. One large red wire to the starter and One 10 guage wire for the trim pump.

If there are more than 2 than they are for other things on the boat.

I am not sure what the (4) guage wire is for??

Need more info.............

2 or 4 guage is what is used for the starter wire.
